If you’re not already familiar, GoodBuy Gear is one of the top marketplaces to safely and sustainably recirculate quality used and open box baby and kid products. They’ve made it super easy for busy parents to re-sell their old gear on consignment and even quality-check everything to give buyers peace of mind. Plus, top brands turn to GoodBuy Gear to sell their open box gear for a great price.
Given this news, we will no longer offer gear and toys for rent. While we are excited for JoyLet to join forces with GoodBuy Gear, we understand you may be disappointed. We get that. We hope you know we didn’t make this decision lightly. While we do have different business models, we share the same mission of making early parenthood easier, more affordable, and more sustainable. And, by using the GoodBuy Gear platform to buy and sell you can realize many of the same benefits of renting like saving time, money, waste, space, and stress.
We’ve loved working with Kristin, the CEO, and her amazing team throughout the acquisition process and are proud to have found a home for JoyLet with another mom-founded business. Especially one that shares our core values of sustainability, affordability, and practicality when it comes to supporting parents with gear and guidance. We’re pleased that our legacy will not only continue, but reach a new scale, thanks to GoodBuy Gear.
With everything going on the last few months, we’ve just barely begun to reflect on the last three years of building JoyLet. This has been such a pivotal time in our lives and we’re grateful that you were a part of it. We were not only building JoyLet, but building our families as well. Alli welcomed her first son last year, and Natalie gained a fiance and three stepdaughters along the way. What started as a practical idea Alli had from working in the rental industry became a living, breathing company that helped hundreds of families.
Don’t get us wrong, the whole process has had some major ups and downs. But, all the while it has been a labor of love for our entire team which grew to include Luke, Tajara and many others. Our small but mighty team fought hard to stand out in a crowded space, with an entirely new business model, investing our hearts, talents, and building a company that matters to so many.
We are proud of our recognitions, including being named a World Changing Idea by Fast Company and winning local awards like Washington Parent Picks. However, our greatest pride comes from helping local parents like YOU save money and make sustainable choices for their families. None of this would have been possible without our incredible community. Thank you for trusting us during one of the most special times in your life. Your support over the years and willingness to embrace a new way of accessing baby and kids' gear has meant the world to us.
